Becoming the Enochs of Today

David Janke Jr.

So then what did it mean? How did Noah provide mankind relief from their work and the painful toil of their hands as they were languishing under the curse of God?

Well I suppose that you could go a couple of directions here. The first is a bit satirical actually. Remember what God told Adam in Genesis 3:19? He said this, “By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground….” So what was it that would bring relief? Death. Death would bring mankind relief from their toil. And it was Noah’s birth that would be the harbinger of the flood. To be fair, it isn’t that Noah himself brought about the flood or the death of mankind, simply that he was a catalyst if you will. But that is more just a bit of irony that is interesting to note.
